There is nothing that we can do about this recession

Without doubt the main topic dominating the news is the current economic crisis, and it appears certain that it is going to get even worse.

You could say “There is nothing that we can do about this recession; it is out of our hands.”

To some degree that is true, there is nothing that we as individuals can do about the recession. How long it will last or deep it will cut is out of our control.

What is more it is world wide; affecting everyone from governments, major industrial and commercial organisations, small businesses and individuals.

All of the news is full of gloom and doom, but in the dim and distant future there is one certainty, at some stage there will be a recovery. Exactly when I don’t know, but it will happen, and when it does, things are not going to be the same.

Banks will be more regulated and the days of easy finance will have gone. Employment and property markets will have changed, some traditional industries will have declined, but others will develop and rise to replace them.

As an example, the UK Government have recently announced the “Digital Britain Report”, which is to be issued in the spring. Digital Technology and the Internet are seen as playing a major part in the future economic growth of the country.

They are proposing implementing a massive engineering project to update telecommunication systems and make high speed broadband available to every household in the Great Britain by 2012.
It would appear that the infrastructure will be put in place, but people from all walks of life are going to have to adapt, and may have to change careers or learn new skills if they are going to be part of this global digital economy.

Novices will have to take on new technology and learn how to use the Internet to their advantage.
On the positive side of the current situation, there is something that we can start doing immediately; we can make a plan of action.

The initial step in this plan must be to look at how we, as individuals and families, are going to survive financially.

I am sure that most of us have already put some measures in place along those lines and will constantly review that part of the plan. For most people, this is where their plan will stop; they will focus purely upon survival.

The more far sighted will adopt a positive attitude, where we not only plan for survival, but plan for the recovery as well. Admittedly there is nothing that we can do about the current situation, but it is how we react to it that is most important.

Identifying opportunities and exploring the potential of Internet Marketing will allow project development without breaking the bank, even when budgets are tight.

In the changing world there will be opportunities, and we should to be looking for them. By doing so and becoming established now, we will have a distinct advantage when things start to recover.
We need to research and develop our strategies for the future, and acquire the skills that will help us to succeed on the Internet.

I am sure that those amongst us who survive or even prosper through this recession will do so because of their positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to explore new markets.
Another thing that we all need from time to time is inspiration. What was the old saying “Necessity is the Mother of All Invention”.
